I also found it worked as a sort of poor-man's tablet: if I'm doing brush strokes in Photoshop and don't want to get out my real tablet, I can hold F1 while doing gentle finger movements on the trackpad to paint strokes. So for a long drag I just hold F1 with my left hand while freely moving fingers on the trackpad with my right. I searched some of the gesture apps but only the BTT has the same or better functionality but it is not free and definitely overkill to me. Though Id still love to buy it Anyway, Ive been looking into it for days, and once MagicPrefs became available middle click issue for OS X was solved. I found I wasn't using F1 (on its own anyway) in any app, so I just assigned it to LMB. Finally, MagicPrefs, which is a free mouse/trackpad gesture app, has given up himself at the newest macOS, Catalina.Only the scroll gets choppy in Chrome/Safari but it is not doable anymore. Yet another topic on so called magic mouse, which seems not so magic now. macOS has a couple of built-in options to deal with that in Accessibility, such as "drag lock".īut I went about it a different way: I bound F1 to LMB. The only technical issue I ever have with trackpad is that it's sometimes a little tricky to do a long drag-and-drop, because simultaneously holding down a click and moving the fingers a long distance (I have four monitors) can get a little tiring. So I just assigned that to Corner Click Bottom Right in BetterTouchTool, and now that's sorted: I've been using the Magic Trackpad 2 on my desktop for years and the first time I missed the middle mouse button was around a month ago - when I realised that something in Resolve I wanted to do was bound to MMB.
